A house can look perfect during a 20-minute open house on a Saturday afternoon, but a showing or an open house only tells part of the story. You aren’t just buying the house, you’re buying the whole neighborhood. That is why we recommend our buyers drive the area when they have fallen in love with any home in the neighborhood.
But why these times?
Morning (7:30–8:30 AM): A morning drive, especially on a weekday, will help you test the real commute and the morning vibes of the area. Is the main exit bottlenecked? Are school buses blocking traffic? Are people out walking their dogs?
Afternoon (4:00-6:00 PM): During the week, an afternoon drive gives you insight into rush hour traffic and after school energy. How busy and loud does it get? And on the weekends you can check the neighborhood energy. Is street parking impossible? Are people hosting events, or is it quiet and relaxed?
Late Night (9:00–11:00 PM): A late night drive is the perfect test for peace and safety. Are the streetlights bright? Is there excessive noise or street traffic?
You fell in love with the house, now make sure the neighborhood is also a good fit 😍
Pro tip: Try walking the block once on foot, too! You’ll catch noise, smells, and overall energy you might miss from behind the wheel.
