Step 2: Check for Domestication: To attach to real estate in Utah, an out-of-state (foreign) judgment usually must be officially filed and "domesticated" in a Utah court.

Step 3: Clear the Path for Lenders: Even if it isn't filed in Utah yet, the buyer's mortgage lender will almost always require the out-of-state lien to be fully paid off, settled, or released before they will fund the loan.
