Because I am a member of the Texas Association of REALTORS* and this year marks the 100th anniversary of our association I wanted to share some interesting facts from 1920.
(1) The association had no female members when it was founded in 1920. Today 67% of the members are women.
(2) 1920 was also the year that the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified, giving women the right to vote.
(3) The first commercial radio station began in 1920
(4) The average value of a mortgaged home in 1920 was $3,862 with averaged debt of $1,550.
(5) Texas was home to 4,663,228 people and the average yearly salary was $3,208.66.
Wow, a lot has happened in 100 years. I am proud to be a member of this association for 23 years and Congratulations for 100 years of commitment to ethics, professionalism and advocacy of our clients.
