“A huge change is going to effect for Credit Reporting. Medical Collections with balances of $0 will be deleted from the credit report as of today.

Previously when a Medical Collection hit your credit, it would do a lot of damage. I've seen 50-100+ points drop from just 1 medical collection. Even if you paid that collection to $0, it would still just report the same collection with a $0 balance, but the damage would have already been done from when the collection first reported unless you got it deleted.
This change is going to cause a significant increase in a lot of people's credit scores.
If you were previously denied for a Mortgage because of your Credit Scores, now would be a great time to apply again to see where you stand.

Even if you had a pretty good score before, you might have Excellent Credit scores now, and be eligible for a much better deal on your Mortgage Loan.

Here are the details of the new changes effective July 1, 2022:

• Paid medical debt that was in collections will no longer be included on consumer credit reports.

•You’ll have more time before unpaid medical debt is reported on your credit report: Unpaid medical debt that is currently in collections for one year will be reported on credit reports. This is an increase from six months that was enacted in 2017.

• Starting in the first half of 2023, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion will no longer include medical debt in collections under $500 on credit reports.”
