Do you want a roof leak? Because that's how you get a roof leak. An exhaust fan terminated at the exterior in a roof valley. A valley is where two slopes of a roof meet to channel water off the roof. Valleys see high concentrations of water when raining. This was too close to the valley and would eventually leak.

Very common find! These types of exterior outlet covers are great when they're closed and it's raining, but what about if you have something plugged in? A bubble style cover that allows a cord to be plugged in while the cover is closed is what you need!

Maintenance tip:

Make sure your first course of shingles are sealed so they don't lift like this. Unfortunately this is a common find on home inspections. A strong wind can come through and lift these shingles starting a domino effect of shingles tearing off.

Hello! In this photo there is a sediment trap missing on the gas appliance connector to the water heater. Incoming gas from a utility is full of sediment and moisture. Sediment and moisture weigh more than the gas and thus fall into the sediment trap. By adding the trap you extended the life of your gas appliances!
