The day is finally here, and applications for the Housing Choice Voucher — commonly known as Section 8 — open enrollment period are NOW BEING ACCEPTED through Nov. 15.

▪️ Applications will be selected using a lottery system and not a first-come, first-serve basis

Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing — what is the difference?

Opportunity Home provides housing assistance through two main programs:

Public Housing (PH) is housing assistance at an Opportunity Home-owned community where you rent directly from us. The organization is the landlord in this instance.

Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) commonly known as Section 8, provides housing assistance in the form of a voucher, where you rent directly from a landlord in the private rental market.

We are accepting applications for our Housing Choice Voucher Program from Nov. 1 through Nov. 15.

Prepare ahead of the enrollment period and make sure you have everything on this checklist:

✅ A valid email address
✅ Social Security numbers for each household member are required if available
✅ A current mailing address
✅ An active phone number

If you are currently on the Housing Choice Voucher waitlist, a new application is not needed.

🚨 RENTAL ASSISTANCE INFORMATION 🚨

If you are experiencing financial hardship and are in need of temporary rental assistance, the City of San Antonio - Municipal Government's Housing Assistance Program will begin accepting applications from Oct. 16 through 22.

TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST
• Meet income requirements
• Provide proof of financial hardship
• Be the primary lease holder
• Not have received rental or relocation assistance from the city in the last 12 months

🚨 HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM REOPENING 🚨

The City of San Antonio - Municipal Government's Housing Assistance Program is reopening and will accept applications May 15 through June 5. To qualify for assistance, applicants must meet the following criteria.

▪️ Income Requirements
▪️ Proof of Financial Hardship
▪️ Primary Lease Holder
▪️ Did not receive rental or relocation assistance from the city in the last 12 months

Households facing eviction will be prioritized. Individuals can apply for assistance at sanantonio.gov/nhsd or call 210.207.5910 for more information.

Hello Residents,

NHSD will begin to accept new rental assistance applications from Feb. 1-16. Due to limited funds, if applicants received rental or relocation assistance from our programs within 12 months of applying, they will not be eligible for an additional award.
