One of San Antonio’s oldest homes is hiding in plain sight. 👀

The Zambrano Homestead in the River Road neighborhood dates back to the 1780s, making it one of the oldest homes still standing in San Antonio.

Built by early San Antonio landowner Macario Zambrano, the home also has deep connections to early Texas history.

Today, it’s a recorded Texas Historic Landmark—a remarkable piece of San Antonio history sitting right in the middle of the city.

One of America’s oldest public parks is right here in San Antonio!

San Pedro Springs Park traces its history to 1729, when the Spanish government set aside the land around the natural springs for public use.
The springs, fed by the Edwards Aquifer, have been a gathering place for thousands of years—long before San Antonio even existed.

By the late 1800s, the park had gardens, ponds, a zoo, and a historic stone grotto. A spring-fed municipal swimming pool opened here in 1922.

Today, San Pedro Springs Park remains one of San Antonio’s oldest gathering places and a beautiful piece of local history.
