At EMBREY, safety isn’t a checkbox. It’s a commitment we uphold on job sites every day.

In recognition of Construction Safety Week, 10 of our active construction sites across Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee participated in the National Safety Stand Down meeting, an industry-wide initiative presented by SFI Compliance, Inc. that brought our team members and subcontractor partners together to focus on one of the most critical topics in the construction industry: fall prevention.

The presentation covered fundamentals that keep our crews protected and our sites operating at the highest standard. Topics included proper fall protection measures, the correct use of fall restraints and personal fall arrest systems, anchorage requirements, and ladder safety practices.

Construction Safety Week serves as an important opportunity to reinforce best practices, strengthen awareness, and continue building a culture where teams look out for one another. Through ongoing education, collaboration, and proactive training, Team EMBREY remains committed to maintaining safe, informed, and prepared job sites across all our markets.

Special thanks to Senior Project Manager, Andrew Wehlander, for coordinating this year’s trainings and to SFI Compliance for their partnership in this initiative.

Although this year's Fiesta River Parade was ultimately canceled due to weather, EMBREY still wanted to ensure Grand Marshal Leon McNeil and the Texas Cavaliers were celebrated in a special way during this milestone year.

After preparing parade route signage honoring Mr. McNeil and celebrating 100 years of the Texas Cavaliers, President & CEO, Trey Embrey, invited Mrs. McNeil to Team EMBREY’s May Huddle to officially present the commemorative poster in person, as Mr. McNeil was unable to attend.

Mr. McNeil was selected as Grand Marshal in recognition of the incredible impact he and his wife, Leticia, have made through City Kids Adventures, a San Antonio nonprofit they have led for 30 years, dedicated to mentoring and creating life-changing opportunities for inner-city youth through athletics, outdoor adventures, travel and education.

Some traditions and people are simply too meaningful to let the weather cancel completely!

Congratulations once again to the Texas Cavaliers on 100 years, and special thanks to the McNeil family for the lasting difference you continue to make in our community.

Executive Vice President of Development, Brad Knolle, represented EMBREY at the 2026 ULI Spring Meeting in Nashville, where he led a presentation at The Carillon Apartments on the development of the EMBREY-built community.

During the program, Brad shared the “story behind the story” of the land acquisition, an intense multi-year effort that remains a strong example of EMBREY’s commitment to Doing the Right Thing. Brad explained the complexity behind working with Metro Nashville, The State of Tennessee, and the Nashville Sounds on a complicated land swap involving all four parties in order to help get First Horizon Park open in the Spring of 2015.

“While the project speaks for itself today, the real story is in the decisions made along the way and the negotiations that took place during the predevelopment period,” Brad shared. “Doing the right thing doesn't always follow the shortest path, but in this case created lasting value.”

The San Antonio delegation included students from UTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, representing both the Real Estate Society at UTSA and the Embrey Real Estate Finance and Development Program. Providing opportunities for students to engage with industry leaders and gain insight into real-world experiences, continues to be an important part of the EMBREY and ULI commitment to develop the next generation of real estate professionals.

EMBREY extends a special thanks to Cody Shown, Executive Director at the Urban Land Institute of San Antonio, Mary Frances Monquin, Senior Manager at ULI San Antonio for coordinating the program, and to Kelley Shaye O'Rourke, the current Property Manager of The Carillon Apartments, for hosting the event.

Thank you to ULI San Antonio - Urban Land Institute for bringing together industry partners, professionals, and students!

joined industry peers for a day on the range at the 2026 RECSA LDP Clay Shoot & Co****le Tournament. As a Gold Sponsor, EMBREY supports this event annually, which helps develop the next generation of real estate leaders through education and training focused on San Antonio’s evolving landscape.

EMBREY’s involvement with RECSA goes back to the very beginning with Founder & Chairman, Walter M. Embrey, Jr. playing a key role in establishing RECSA, helping shape it into the organization it is today. Building on that foundation, Executive Vice President of Development, Brad Knolle, was instrumental in launching this very event, which has become a staple within the San Antonio real estate community.

Special thanks to the Real Estate Council of San Antonio (RECSA) for hosting another outstanding event!

Team EMBREY joined Managing Director & Executive Vice President of Construction, Helena Finley, at the inaugural Bisnow San Antonio Women Leading Real Estate Awards, where she was recognized as a Leader of the Year Honoree. Helena served as a panelist for the “Spotlight on San Antonio Women Leaders, Mentors, and Innovators,” where she shared insights on the strategies and perspectives shaping San Antonio’s evolving landscape. Joined by her daughter at the event, Director of Operations at MYR Land Services, Elizabeth Ryan, it was a meaningful morning of celebration.

This recognition reflects Helena’s 25+ years of experience in multifamily construction, where she oversees projects across six states and guides teams from concept through completion with a focus on integrity, quality, and innovation. She is known for fostering strong relationships across project teams and trade partners, driving collaboration, and consistent results.

Her leadership also extends beyond project ex*****on. In 2024, Helena launched EMBREY’s Annual Subcontractor & Consultant Excellence Awards, a program that recognizes skilled trades across six states and highlights the importance of these vital professions. The program also includes a monetary donation, made on EMBREY’s behalf, to a nonprofit organization selected by each award recipient.

Beyond EMBREY, Helena remains actively engaged in the broader commercial real estate community, serving on industry committees, and contributing as a board member to BUILT National and the University of Houston Alumni Foundation, where she chairs the Scholarship Committee.

Congratulations to Helena and all honorees, with a special nod to Laura Gilliland, Program Assistant Director of the UT San Antonio Embrey Real Estate Finance and Development program, on also being named a Leader of the Year.

Several team members from our Accounting Services teams recently visited Flats at The Hatchery in Austin, TX for a team off-site, experiencing firsthand how their work supports EMBREY’s multifamily community currently under construction.

The visit included a site tour led by Senior Project Manager, Andy Wehlander, which offered an inside look at the project’s progress.

Located near the shores of Lady Bird Lake just east of downtown, The Hatchery area is a thoughtfully planned, walkable district that will bring together residential, retail, multifamily, senior housing, and green space in one dynamic setting. EMBREY’s 344-unit community will be a key part of growing this neighborhood.
