With this freeze in mind, expect most uninsulated exposed exterior pipes that have no water movement to freeze within six to eight hours if the temperature is below 20 degrees. It takes at least 12 hours for unprotected exposed pipes to freeze at 32 degrees. Time (hours) under 32 degrees is the factor then temperature below 32 degrees speeds the freezing process the colder it gets.
