With less than 2 years from our oldest leaving the nest, coupled with living in an affluent area, and being intimately involved in the market; I have been feeling the pressure to help my kiddos become financially self reliant in their adulthood.

I’ve found a lot of inspiration from the book, ā€œValue Creation Kidā€ and implemented strategies in our home to create a foundation for them to be successful, on their own. To create value.

I’ve thought a lot about each aspect of their financial journeys to set them on a path of financial literacy and success. We discuss a lot of aspects from schooling, business ideas, credit, debt, networking, developing skills, and as they each get older, crafting a plan to help them get to where they want to be. It’s not a one size fits all or a guarantee success plan. It takes work and effort, but starts with conversations and planning.

Finding financial freedom means buying your time to do more of the things that are really important to you. Service. Family. Health.

Homeownership is a big part of that financial path and planning.

And sometimes teaching others is the best way to learn yourself. They don’t teach these things in school because you cannot really learn it with a hypothetical budget sheet assignment. There needs to be real life application.

So the best advice is to include them in YOUR real life application. And slowly give them more opportunities to take on financial responsibilities of their own, so they can learn sooner and faster.

This topic needs more than one post, but it’s a good start. ā˜ŗļø

Oh social media can be tricky. I think most of us have a love/hate relationship with it.
I don’t usually struggle being vulnerable and so I think people know me, but then I realize most actually don’t.

The truth is, life usually looks happy and successful, but everybody struggles.

Every professional and business owner has losses and failures. It’s not always success stories and happy endings.

I’m no different.

I’ve had great wins in real estate, and hard disappointments. Friends who used or referred me and friends who didn’t. Friends who supported Paul’s business, and friends who didn’t. It’s hard not to take things personally sometimes. It’s hard to overcome hurt feelings.

It’s a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.

The hard exists as much or more than the highlights.

But what always makes me proud is I put my big girl panties on and push through it. I take moments to look back and see what I’ve built, and what I’ve accomplished- not just in business, but in life.

I take time to appreciate the opportunities I’ve had and been able to give my kids. Grateful for the lessons I’ve been able to teach them because of who I am after these experiences.

So which hard truth of mine surprised you the most?

Some of you may know our story, some may not…

My husband, Paul and I have been married almost 19 years. We met in Memphis, TN while he was selling pest control for the summer and I was spending the summer with an aunt and uncle. Curiously, we were both from southern, CA. We had a whirlwind romance and were married November that same year. 🄰

We quickly moved back to Utah where I finished my degree at BYU, we started our family, bought our first home and Paul dabbled in entrepreneurship ventures while still stuck in the golden handcuffs of summer sales.

For almost a decade, we moved all over the United States- Washington, Texas, Florida, Utah while Paul knocked doors, and finally ended back in my hometown- Murrieta, CA.

When our oldest started kindergarten I told Paul no more moving. He opened his car shop back in 2012 and grew it to an 8-bay shop he still owns and runs today at the Temecula Mall.

In all that time we had our 5 kiddos, Brooklynn (16), Maylee (14), Lyla (12), Deacon (10), and Covey (8).

5 years ago, once all my kiddos were in school, I got my real estate license and hit the ground running. It’s been a roller coaster of a ride with market shifts and changes in stages of life, but I absolutely love what I do.

I’ve had a love affair with San Clemente my entire adult life. After the pandemic, we pulled the trigger and finally made the jump to move here. It’s the best decision and the best place we’ve ever called home.

I pinch myself everyday that my kids get to grow up here, and I love that I can help make this place home for so many others too.

Looking to move to San Clemente or the surrounding areas? I got you- let’s be friends. ā˜ŗļøšŸ«¶šŸ¼

A common myth is that FHA loans are only for fist time home buyers.
They’re not.

We always say RUN THE NUMBERS. With an FHA loan of 3.5% down, you may be able to purchase a home sooner than you think.

Check out these numbers.
