San Diego Just Cause & Rent Caps Approved After Nearly 6 Hour Hearing

"The vote was 3-2. It had originally failed because it was an emergency ordinance that required four votes. After it failed, Supervisor Nora Vargas — who introduced the ordinance — changed it to a non-emergency item that requires three votes to pass, and will require another public hearing on May 4th." - The San Diego Union-Tribune

The ordinance would:
-Limit rent increases to only the CPI percentage (currently 1.8%) until July 1 throughout the County.

-Prevent any termination of tenancies and evictions unless a tenant is "an imminent health or safety threat."
