Every presidential election, we see an interest rate drop. But this year we were met with a rather... lackluster rate drop of 0.5%. But has that mortgage loan rate drop affected the market at all and if so how?

Well in short - it hasn't.

With a little more inventory in the market, we have seen a 5-7% decrease in prices. But that price drop has not caught up with the vast majority of buyers. Even though the rates did help, there is still that disconnect.

Although it allowed some buyers to afford more house, we are still seeing (at least in the San Diego County) a gap between what a buyer can afford and what the seller is willing to drop their home price to.

But that doesn't mean there isn't hope on the horizon for the last couple of months for Q4 in 2024 as well as what we can expect for Q1 of 2025.

This rate drop might have been a little disappointing for some but no matter what, an interest rate drop still has a lot of potential for some buyers to finally be able to afford to enter the market.

If you see or hear of ANYONE who is looking to help you get a house by using this scammy method, run the other way.

Using credit card cash advances as a way to get money for a down payment on a house is one of the worst ideas I have heard of to date. Possibly even worse than the NINJA loans that brought down the housing marketing is 2008.

Don't do it. Don't fall for it.
