During the recent holidays, my sister shared with me a beautiful movement: the Buddhist Monks’ Walk for Peace. Since then, every day, I’ve been quietly following their journey, and my heart has been deeply touched.
Walking alongside the monks is Aloka, lovingly known as “The Peace Dog.” Together, they are walking from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, DC - a 2,300-mile journey spanning 120 days, through winter’s harsh and humbling conditions. As of today, they are on their 81st day, crossing into North Carolina. Every step is an offering of peace, compassion, and mindful presence.
At the beginning, very few people and little media knew about their walk and its purpose. Yet through quiet perseverance and sincere intention, their message has traveled far. Today, thousands of people line their route to greet them, listen to their talks. Their community has grown to over 1M+ followers, a testament to how deeply the world is yearning for peace!
Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s help this movement reach 2M hearts and beyond 💛
In times of noise and division, their walk is a gentle reminder that peace begins within - one mindful step at a time.
Here’s to Peace and Love.
May we all walk a little more calmly, a little more mindfully.
