Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our nation and so many lives.

We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the courage of the first responders and other heroes who stepped forward to help others, and the families and loved ones who continue to carry the profound loss of that day.

We remember the extraordinary bravery, compassion and unity that emerged in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Today, we honor every life lost, every family forever changed and every hero who answered the call.

We will never forget.

At Father Joe’s Villages, we believe everyone deserves access to care, without having to leave a beloved pet behind. 🐶🐱

Our Chief Health Officer, Megan Partch, PhD, recently joined colleagues at the California Department of Health Care Services SUD Integrated Care Conference to share how our Detox Program is creating more accessible pathways to recovery through co-sheltering.

Through our pet-friendly approach, participants can bring their furry family members with them to treatment, removing one more barrier that can stand in the way of healing.

Dr. Partch and Mary Jo Scarpitti, Director of Specialty Health Programs, presented on our approach, encouraging substance use disorder treatment providers to consider how low-barrier, pet-inclusive programming can help more people access the care they need.

Because healing should never have to mean leaving a family member behind. 💛

This Labor Day, we celebrate the people whose work helps our community thrive. ❤️

At Father Joe’s Villages, we know that meaningful employment can be an important step toward stability and self-sufficiency. Through employment and education services, job training and individualized support, we help neighbors experiencing homelessness build skills, pursue new opportunities and work toward their goals.

Today, we also recognize the dedicated team members, volunteers, partners and supporters whose contributions help make our mission possible every day.

Looking for a meaningful way to give back? Join the Village Ladies Guild for its free annual Membership Drive Potluck Luncheon on September 14 from 11am – 1pm at Saint Gregory the Great Parish Hall, 11451 Blue Cypress Dr., San Diego, CA 92131. 💙

The Village Ladies Guild is a non-denominational, all-volunteer service organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and families at Father Joe’s Villages. With 200 members contributing more than 10,000 volunteer hours each year, the Guild raises funds and provides hands-on support for neighbors experiencing homelessness with their compassion, creativity, and community spirit.

There are many ways to get involved, including:
🔸 Holiday shopping and gift-wrapping for families
🔸 Planning, sponsoring and supporting major fundraisers
🔸Hosting monthly birthday parties for preschoolers at Father Joe’s Villages
🔸Volunteering at events such as the Thanksgiving Day 5K and annual golf tournament

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we honor the lives lost to overdose and stand with those working toward recovery. 💜

Overdose is preventable, and recovery is possible. At Father Joe’s Villages, we believe everyone deserves compassionate care and the opportunity to move toward healing and stability.

Through our Village Recovery Services, including our Detox Program, RISE Sober Living Shelter, and Transformative Recovery Services, we meet neighbors where they are and help create pathways toward recovery and a healthier future.

Today and every day, we remain committed to reducing stigma, expanding access to care, and ensuring our neighbors know they do not have to navigate recovery alone.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the Hope Starts Here Day Center Match Challenge raised more than $300,000 to help relocate essential Day Center services and ensure neighbors experiencing homelessness continue receiving the care and support they need. ❤️

By bringing these services to our Village campus, neighbors will have stronger connections to healthcare, housing, employment and other resources that help people move from crisis to stability.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Together, hope continues.
