A BIG WIN FOR SAN FRANCISCO PROPERTY OWNERS

Today’s real estate news: A California appeals court has ruled against San Francisco’s residential “Empty Homes Tax,” a vacancy tax that would have imposed significant annual taxes on certain residential properties left vacant.

The court found that the tax conflicts with the California Ellis Act, which protects a property owner’s right to take a property out of the rental market.

The ruling upholds the earlier court decision that blocked the tax.

For San Francisco landlords and property owners, this is an important victory for property rights and the ability to make decisions about their own property.

As someone who works with San Francisco property owners every day, I think this is an important development to watch.
