In 2016, Nina formed the Hatvany Team at Compass with her three adult children, two of whom are attorneys. Team Hatvany has been the number-one team in San Francisco for 2017-2023! Team Hatvany represents
both buyers and sellers of luxury houses, condominiums and apartment buildings. The team is single-minded in their pursuit of their clients’ desires, whether to sell at the best possible price or to buy the perfect home; they make it their business to get their clients what they want. Nina's interest in real estate sales stems from her 33 years in real estate development, building townhouses in Palo Alto, refurbishing and operating several Bay Area apartment buildings and, most particularly, restoring and rehabilitating many homes in San Francisco itself. Along the way she acquired a contractor’s license. Before that, Nina was a Professor at the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University and later the Graduate School of Business at Berkeley, California. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford in Psychology with concentration in the Business School, and is widely recognized as one of the best-trained negotiators in the business. Nina has resided in San Francisco for thirty-five plus years with her husband, and her three children had a wonderful experience being raised in the City. Nina is active in the community and is currently a member of the Board of Larkin Street Youth Services and a former board member of International Women’s Forum and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area. Team Hatvany includes her eldest daughter Natalie and her son Paul, both of whom are Attorneys and members of the California Bar Association, as well as her daughter Vanessa. Natalie Hatvany Kitchen is an attorney with several years of experience in San Francisco real estate both as a licensed broker and as a homeowner in San Francisco. Natalie most enjoys assisting buyers with the intricacies of purchasing, financing, and converting properties. Natalie also spends much of her time coordinating and preparing listings for sale. Natalie's BA is from Yale followed by a law degree from Harvard. She subsequently worked as a real estate attorney for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in San Francisco. License # 01484878
Paul Hatvany Kitchen joined Nina's team after completing his graduate studies and becoming a licensed attorney in the state of California. Born and raised in San Francisco, Paul is particularly interested in the complexities of multi-unit buildings, the buying and selling of which make up a significant part of our business. He is particularly qualified In this area as he owns and manages several apartment buildings himself. Paul also assists with residential transactions and ensures that each is running smoothly. Paul graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern California (USC), holds a Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law, and, like his sister, is a current member of the State Bar of California in good standing. Vanessa returned San Francisco to join Nina’s team seven years ago after seven years as a real estate agent with Douglas Elliman in New York City, building a thriving residential sales business specializing in luxury properties in Manhattan. She served as Board President of her condominium association and as a project manager for clients to oversee construction and the rental process of investment properties. Vanessa owns two multi-unit buildings in San Francisco, providing her with an acute understanding of how to efficiently develop multi-unit properties into successful income-producing and appreciating assets. She previously worked in editorial and public relations in New York, and brings this experience to Nina’s team to spearhead PR and marketing initiatives for the team’s listings as well as assisting buyers. Vanessa holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bowdoin College and an M.A. in Journalism from New York University. License #02016667
