Persistence & Hope
540 Sutter Street | San Francisco
Deal Story
Some transactions happen quickly.
Others take years.
The sale of 540 Sutter Street — just one block from Union Square — was a deal more than three years in the making. What began with countless tours across San Francisco eventually narrowed to this building after months of research, feasibility analysis, and bringing in specialists to evaluate the property and its development potential.
Even after all of that work, the transaction nearly collapsed at the eleventh hour.
A notice of cancellation arrived and it looked as though the deal might be over.
But I still believed in the opportunity. More importantly, I believed in my client’s vision and their desire to make it work. Instead of letting the transaction die, we went back to the table, reopened the conversation, and ultimately brought the deal across the finish line.
Moments like this are a reminder that real estate is not just about contracts and timelines.
It’s about advocacy.
Believing in your client — sometimes even when they are questioning the path themselves — and helping them move forward safely, strategically, and at a winning price.
Grateful to collaborate with my Compass colleague on bringing this complex transaction across the finish line.
