Spring has come a bit early in Half Moon Bay.

Half Moon Bay’s famous wild mustard field is already in full bloom. The field is located on Iacopi Farms’ private property, so visitors pay an admission fee to support a lovely local farm.

Fast Friends?
Uh, not so fast (witness the gate)!

These two lovely, assertive beasts (gross weight nearly 200 pounds between them), are just getting acclimated on the same side of the gate (yes that’s Tux on the right), after several weeks of acclimation exercises, joint outdoor walks, muzzle play and many hours of additional training under close supervision to ensure a “winning household”.

Yep, it’s easy to want two dogs from different families to “just get along” right away, but you need to respect their individuality, territorial instincts, protective nature and their own little unique personalities and take the extra measures to ensure it’s done slowly and confidently. Beautiful? Indeed…and lovely and quirky…..of course she and the signs are, but the hidden beauty is in the upper left corner.

Walnuts….growing in a lush, organic and sustainable manner with ground cover all around. View a stark example of this gorgeous small field immediately adjacent to another stripped-out, barren, herbicide-covered orchard right next door.

Visit Rushstaller Farm in Dixon…an awesome, earthy, connected brewery and event center in Dixon, CA. Maybe you will grab some inspiration for your own home garden.
