[BREAKING NEWS] On October 31st, the San Francisco Superior Court struck down the residential vacancy tax in San Francisco. The Superior Court found that the vacancy tax violated the Constitution as an unlawful afford to the Takings Clause, Substantive Due Process, and Equal Protection; and is an unlawful burden on privacy interests and is pre-empted by the state's Ellis Act. Let's talk Home Insurance....

Changes in policies for home insurance are a difficult yet hot topic in California right now. With many new home owners encountering hurdles when trying to obtain any coverage -and- established home owners getting dropped by their policy holders that they've worked with for years. If you are one of the lucky ones who aren't dropped during the renewal period, you may find yourself in the same pool as many other homeowners, facing an increase up to 30-40%. So it may be worth considering sticking with your current plan if you are faced with 10% or less.

Some Admitted carriers (think Allstate, Farmers) are still in the game but many consumers aren't aware that there are also Non-Admitted carriers as a potential option. These are A rated companies but are just structured differently than the Admitted carriers.
