🏆 We took 3rd place at the RAISE Hackathon in Paris — competing against 250 hand-picked hackers on site!

The RAISE Hackathon is the official build sprint of RAISE Week, the run-up to Europe’s biggest AI summit (9,000+ attendees at Le Carrousel du Louvre this week). Application-based, co-organized with Cerebral Valley, and packed with some of the sharpest engineers and founders I’ve met.

In 48 hours, our team — strangers on Saturday morning, teammates by Sunday night — built an AI-powered platform for hospitality businesses, tackling one of the industry’s most opaque problems with verified data at the core.

After 12+ years operating a 42-listing luxury STR portfolio (Bijou Getaways) and now building HostProfit.ai, hospitality × AI is where I live every day. Attacking a new corner of that space with fresh eyes — and landing on the podium of the Vultr track — made this one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time.

I shot this in downtown San Francisco today.

A robot. Dancing on a corner where, not long ago, a person danced for tips.

The crowd that gathered wasn’t watching a street performer anymore. They were watching a machine — and they were mesmerized.

Here’s what struck me: nobody standing there thought they were looking at “the future.” To them it was just a cool thing on a Sunday. A novelty. A clip for the group chat.

That’s exactly the point.

The future doesn’t arrive with a press release. It shows up on a street corner, quietly takes the spot a human used to hold, and most people scroll right past it.

We are not “heading toward” an AI-and-robotics world. We are already living in it. And it is moving faster than almost anyone in business has priced in.
