As our parents are getting older (if you are lucky enough that they are still alive) I wanted to bring something to your attention. Last week, I was talking with a friend about her mother and her concern that she is starting to show signs of forgetfulness, maybe borderline dementia. She gave me her mom's address, and I happened to check on the County's Assessor's office regarding property taxes.
Long story short, mom had not paid her taxes for 4 years, and was past due over $50k!! In case you don't know, the County can foreclose on the house if you do not pay your property taxes, even if the house is paid in full.
So, I encourage you to check in with your parents, and check sites like https://www.sccassessor.org/ to make sure that their taxes are paid in full so you don't have any surprises.

The Assessor has developed an on line tool to look up basic information, such as assessed value and assessor's parcel number (APN), for real property in Santa Clara County.

Do you have gently-used blankets you don’t need any longer? Looking for a good cause to donate them?

We are in need of clean, gently-used blankets for our doggos and kitties and rabbits, too. Our preference is blankets without stuffing (stuffing can be a hazard for stressed-out pups).

Please bring them by our center at 📍2750 Monterey Road, San Jose📍 during our 🕙 business hours 🕔

You can place them in the yellow bins in our lobby, or give them to staff, if you prefer.
