The nearly 9.5-mile route is managed by four different agencies, which helps explain why one stretch can have a brand-new improvement while another has a detour, closure, or seasonal change happening at the same time.

Right now:

• The Highway 9 connector is complete
• Vasona’s boating season is winding down
• A county-managed section has a detour due to a failed culvert
• Different parts of the trail offer completely different experiences, from paved urban paths to dirt trails near Lexington Reservoir

It’s one of those local details you may not notice until it affects your weekend plans.
