🏠 What’s happening in Marin & California Real Estate? Here is your weekly Public Policy Update! 🏠
Your Government Affairs Directors (Victor and Aaliyah Gomez) has been hard at work tracking the big issues impacting REALTORS®, property owners, and housing affordability. Here are the top 4 things you need to know this week:
🏗️ C.A.R. is Fighting for Homeownership in Sacramento: The California Association of REALTORS® is pushing for state funding to fix water/sewer infrastructure bottlenecks (a massive barrier to new builds) and protecting crucial down payment assistance funding for the California Dream for All program.
🛡️ Insurance Market Under Strain: The California FAIR Plan approved a ~29% premium hike starting this fall. While this impacts buyer qualification and escrow timelines, state officials hope recent insurance reforms will soon lure major carriers back into the California market.
🪵 Marin County Septic & LAMP Updates: Updates to Marin’s Local Agency Management Program are underway. If you deal with rural or coastal properties (especially West Marin), these changes could impact ADUs, remodels, permit timelines, and property values.
📉 HUD Strategy to Lower Building Costs: HUD released new guidance to cut through red tape, noting that regulation can add over $100,000 to the cost of a new single-family home.
