🏠 Renting vs. Buying: Are You Paying Your Landlord’s Mortgage?
With rents continuing to rise, I talk to many renters who feel stuck.
One of the most common things I hear is:
“Roy, I’d love to buy a home, but I just don’t think I can afford it right now.”
But here’s something many renters may not realize:
You might be closer to qualifying for a home than you think.
One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home is that you need perfect credit and a 20% down payment. That’s simply not always the case.
Depending on your qualifications, there may be several options available:
✅ Low Down Payment Programs — Some loan programs may require as little as 3% to 3.5% down.
✅ Down Payment Assistance — Certain programs may help qualified buyers with down payment and/or eligible closing costs.
✅ Flexible Credit Options — You don’t necessarily need perfect credit to qualify for a mortgage.
Every month you rent, that payment goes toward someone else’s property.
When you own, your monthly housing payment may help you build equity in an asset of your own.
And even if your lease doesn’t expire for another 6, 9, or 12 months, now may be the perfect time to start preparing.
👇 Want to find out where you stand?
Send me a DM and let’s have a conversation about what you’re currently paying in rent and whether homeownership could be an option for you.
Even if you’re not ready today, we can put together a game plan so you know what steps to take next.
No pressure. Just information, options, and a plan.
