September is a good month for a simple home reset before cooler weather arrives. You do not need a major maintenance weekend to catch the small things that can become bigger headaches later.

Take five minutes and walk the exterior with fresh eyes. Look for clogged gutters, loose trim, worn weather stripping, slow drains, or areas where water is not moving away from the home properly. Inside, test smoke detectors and check the HVAC filter before the season changes.

A well-maintained home is easier to enjoy now and easier to prepare for market later. I see regular maintenance as part of protecting the story, condition, and long-term appeal of a property.
