📐🏆 Local Students Recognized in National Trigonometry Competition

Students from the Sandpoint area were recently recognized for their achievements in the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) Trig-Star Competition, a nationwide contest designed to test and promote excellence in trigonometry.

The competition was sponsored locally by Glahe and Associates, Inc., a professional land surveying firm based in Sandpoint. The goal of the program is to encourage students to develop strong math skills while also introducing them to career opportunities in land surveying, engineering, and other technical professions that rely heavily on trigonometry.

This year’s participants demonstrated impressive problem-solving abilities in the challenging math competition.

🏅 Students recognized included:

🥇 Josie Cox — 1st Place
🥈 Teagan Newsom — 2nd Place
🥉 Brent Grothnur — 3rd Place

The Trig-Star program, organized nationally by the National Society of Professional Surveyors, is held in communities across the country. Local surveying and engineering firms sponsor the event in partnership with schools to highlight the importance of mathematics in real-world careers.

Programs like Trig-Star help spark student interest in STEM fields while also addressing the growing need for skilled professionals in surveying, engineering, and related industries.

Organizers say they hope sharing the results of the competition will encourage more schools and surveying or engineering companies across North Idaho to participate in future competitions.

Glahe & Associates is hiring crew members for immediate employment. This job entails chainsaw and brushing work. We are a local Professional Land Surveying company, in business since 1986, willing to train those who want to learn.
Qualified candidates would be physically able to lift and carry equipment over rugged terrain, pass a background check, and be able to work well with other crew members.
Must have valid driver’s license.
Familiarity with electronics and navigation is preferred but not necessary. Must be able to travel (per diem and lodging provided) for 5-day and 10-day shifts.
Medical, Vision, Dental, 401k after probationary period.

Qualified candidates would preferably be proficient in all MS Office products, electronic file management, printers/copiers/scanners and various navigation software products.
Daily responsibilities will include scanning documents, receiving phone calls, gathering property information, and general office maintenance and support. We are looking for a positive and motivated representative. Pay will depend on experience. Medical, Dental, 401k after probationary period for full time employment.
