A friend sent me an article ranking the â30 fastest selling cities in Idaho.â (thanks Chad)â
It was one of those typical âtop 30â sort of lists that grabs your attention. It was fairly engaging and interesting. To someone who doesnât know better, it was convincing, too. But far more importantly⌠for Sandpoint, it was wrong.đĄ
It was featured by a prominent real estate website, but probably written by AIđ
Why do I bring this up hereâ
Because Iâve had too many conversations that start with, âBut Zillow said...â
Most real estate content today is designed to be catchy, clickable, and grab your attention, not to reflect whatâs actually happening locally.
And to be fair, we all click on it. I do too.
Sites like Zillow, Redfin, Trulia, Realtor. com, and Homes. com compile massive amounts of data into clickbait stories.
They may occasionally be useful for a broad context, but good real estate decisions arenât made with broad level stats and info.
Sandpoint doesnât do what other markets do.
Itâs easy to forget that. Here its more about seasonality, details and lifestyle.
Those public sites are ok starting points. But if you want truthful, accurate info that relates to your situation in north Idaho then you have to talk to someone who knowsđ
Itâs like going to WebMD instead of talking to an actual doctor who can run tests, check you out and give an accurate diagnosis.
If what youâre reading doesnât match what youâre seeing locally, thatâs usually where the best conversations start.
