🔍 𝙁𝙪𝙣 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙈𝘿𝘾

Sometimes you find more than you bargained for! While digging to install a water hookup at one of our properties, Mike uncovered this arrowhead. It's become one of his most treasured possessions.

According to research, it's believed to be a Thebes E-Notch point dating back roughly 8,000 to 9,000 years. That's a pretty incredible piece of history to find right here in our area. Interestingly, archaeologists usually refer to artifacts this old as "projectile points" rather than arrowheads, since they predate the bow and arrow. It's a reminder that long before Sandusky became home for so many of us, people were living, working, and traveling through this region.

We spend a lot of time improving properties and neighborhoods, but every now and then a project uncovers a connection to the past. Stay tuned for more Fun Finds with SMDC!

One really nice part of what we do is seeing our former homes continue to shine (quite literally).

SMDC owned this home for nearly 10 years before selling it to one of our neighbors, and they've done a beautiful job keeping it up. The Knock Out roses in front have been part of the landscaping since our early days with the property, and they're looking as good as ever.

It's always rewarding to see these homes continue to be cared for and maintained in the neighborhood.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆

When SMDC purchased this property in 2022, it was showing its age. New windows, a fresh coat of paint, and lots of new landscaping helped give it a fresh look and feel from the outside. Inside, we've made numerous updates as well, including converting an efficiency apartment to a shared laundry area. Today, it's home to three families, and we're glad to be able to provide a comfortable place for them to call home.

🌳 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙀𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘿𝙖𝙮 🌳

One of the ways SMDC honors the environment is by planting trees throughout our properties. This tulip tree, located in SMDC's little park, was planted by Mike in 2025 and named after his wife, Allison.

Mike and Allison have a tradition of naming the trees they plant after people and moments that matter to them and then making them pose for a photo with said tree 😂

On World Environment Day, we're grateful that trees make our neighborhoods healthier, greener, and more welcoming places to call home.

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 🌳

Three local guys spent Wednesday planting 16 trees around downtown Sandusky, a small way to help keep our community beautiful for years to come.

Did you know one mature tree can provide enough oxygen for two people each day? So technically, after planting 16 trees, these guys may have just secured their own oxygen supply for the foreseeable future 🌱💚

Our China Roses (Rosa chinensis) that were planted in 2012 are putting on a spectacular show right now at our downtown 709 West Washington Street property (which is home to Marina Medical). Take a stroll or drive by and enjoy all 18 plants looking their absolute prettiest of the year!

San Marino Development Co.'s story began at 709 West Washington Street, Sandusky.

Purchased in 2013, this was the very first property that planted our roots as a property management company. Today, it’s home to Marina Medical, Marina at home, and Nexxt Level Gym...businesses that continue to serve and strengthen our community every day.

Roots matter to us because strong communities are built over time. Seeing this property continue to grow alongside our community is something we’re incredibly proud of.

San Marino Development Company, owned by Mike Will, is truly a dream landlord. He is friendly and approachable, professional and responsive, and takes great pride in maintaining his properties.
