One TV. One phone. One bathroom.
That's it. That's what we had.
Three kids, one couch, one show.
Nobody had a room to hide in.
You waited your turn, or you didn't get one.
The phone cord barely reached the hallway.
That was privacy enough.
One bathroom and four people who needed it at the same time every morning.
Somebody was always banging on that door.
We didn't call it hard. We called it Tuesday.
Now every kid has a screen, a room, and a world all their own.
We fought over the remote and lived to tell about it.
We fought over the bathroom and lived to tell about it too.
Nobody stormed off to a separate room. There was nowhere separate to go.
So we figured it out, right there on that couch.
Elbow to elbow, whether we liked it or not.
Turns out that's how you build a family that actually knows each other.
