Today was the last day for Hydrangea Fest but the flowers are in full bloom - not only hydrangeas but a wide variety of daylillies and hundreds of pollinators.

A unique two-family home Just Sold in Sandwich Village. I love researching the history of the older homes in my community. The archives at the Sandwich library contained a note that Dr. Russell purchased the property in 1857 as an investment - possibly to house workers of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company. The house was sold at auction in 1864 - marketed as a 2-3 family or boarding house. Owners along the way have taken great care in preserving the property with its five fireplaces and wide pine floors and most recently a sun-filled family room to access the backyard. Main Street Sandwich boasts many historic treasures. There is a walking tour on the Pocketsights app for your mobile phone which is a great way to spend an afternoon. And while viewing the homes and their history you can stop at anyone of the cafes, restaurants or gift shops along the way.
