One of the things I love most about this job is that it’s never really about the houses.
It’s about the people.

Apparently real estate needed more drama 🙃 (video version)

If Zillow has seemed weird lately or you feel like listings are missing… you’re not imagining it.

Quick reminder that Zillow isn’t actually the MLS — it pulls information FROM the MLS. Which is also why relying on one app alone can be risky when you’re house hunting.

And honestly? This is exactly why having an actual human helping you still matters.

No pressure. No fluff. Just wanted to explain what’s going on in normal people terms 😂

Okay, quick real estate PSA because this is getting confusing already…

If you’re searching for homes in the Chicago area and using Zillow, you may NOT actually be seeing all the listings anymore.

And no, this isn’t a glitch.

There’s currently a big dispute happening between Zillow and our local MLS system (MRED) over private listings and how listings are shared online.

Basically:
Zillow gets listing data FROM the MLS.

But now Zillow and the MLS are fighting over certain rules… and because of that, Zillow no longer has access to all of the listings it used to.

So if you’re only searching on Zillow right now?
You could literally be missing homes.

Also — little (H U G E) reminder while we’re here:
➡️When you click “tour this home” or “contact agent” on Zillow, you are VERY often being connected with an agent who paid Zillow for your info… not necessarily the listing agent or someone you intentionally chose.

A lot of buyers don’t realize that.

And yes — Zillow is easy to use. I get it. Most people start there.

But it’s not always the full picture.

If you want:
• actual live MLS searches
• homes the second they hit
• private network listings
• coming soon opportunities
• or just someone to explain what the heck you’re actually looking at…

Yorkville is growing fast… but not every part of Yorkville feels the same.
And honestly, that’s one of the reasons people end up loving it here.
If you’re considering moving to Yorkville, understanding the different neighborhoods, commute patterns, and overall vibe of each area matters WAY more than people realize.
