The rainfall totals across Tampa Bay are hard to ignore.
Tampa recorded nearly 8.5 inches of rain in just 48 hours. That is more than the 6.09 inches the city normally receives during the entire month of September.
But standing water and flooded streets are only the problems we can see.
Constant rain can also lead to:
• Mold and mildew in damp interior spaces
• Slippery sidewalks, breezeways, and stairs
• Clogged drains and overflowing gutters
• Water getting behind walls, ceilings, and exterior finishes
• Soft ground around foundations and walkways
• Small roof leaks turning into larger repairs
For commercial and multifamily properties, these issues can create safety concerns, resident complaints, damaged materials, and expensive repairs long after the rain stops.
Once conditions improve, take the time to walk your property. Check drainage areas, covered walkways, ceilings, walls, mechanical rooms, and any place where water may collect.
A quick inspection today could prevent a much larger problem next week.
