City of Sanibel invites the community to learn about the progress of the Sanibel Plan Update, hear a summary of community input received to date, and participate in interactive discussions on key topics that will help shape the future of the island. Public participation remains an essential part of the planning process, ensuring the updated Sanibel Plan continues to reflect the community's vision while protecting the island's unique environment, character, and quality of life.

I discovered SanCap360 earlier this week and thought it was an interesting resource worth sharing.

SanCap360 is a community health dashboard featuring data and insights about Sanibel and Captiva, covering everything from the local economy and community well-being to the environment, infrastructure and public services.

It’s a collaborative effort of the Charitable Foundation of the Islands, City of Sanibel and Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce. The dashboard was designed and developed by Hammerhead Technology and sponsored by the Sanibel Captiva Islands Association of Realtors®.

The City of Sanibel has announced the 2027 beach parking permit sales dates:

📅 October 5: Resident & property owner A and AC permits
📅 October 26: Non-resident B and BC permits

Permits are valid through November 30, 2027. Be sure to review the eligibility requirements and have the necessary documentation ready before applying.

Waves of Remembrance: A Morning of Reflection

The community is invited to gather for a meaningful morning of remembrance honoring the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, the first responders who rushed toward danger, the members of the military who answered the call in the years that followed, and all those who continue to live with the lasting impact of that day.

The ceremony is being held in conjunction with the City of Sanibel's "A Field of Heroes,” a powerful temporary tribute at neighboring Sanibel Community Park. The display features 2,977 American flags, each representing a life lost on September 11.

The morning will also include a special announcement regarding a major 9/11 remembrance initiative planned for Sanibel in 2027.

Please join the Sanibel community as we come together to honor those who were lost, recognize those who served, and reflect on the strength that can be found when a community stands together.

Have you reviewed your TRIM Notice? 🏡

TRIM (Truth in Millage) Notices, which provide estimates of proposed property taxes, were mailed last month to Lee County property owners.

If you believe your property's assessed value is incorrect, there's still time to appeal, but the deadline is almost here! Appeals must be filed by Friday, September 11.
