Grateful to have presided over this year’s Mission Canyon Association Annual Meeting with more than 200 neighbors, community leaders, firefighters, environmental advocates, and local officials coming together to discuss the future of Mission Canyon and Santa Barbara.

We covered critical topics including wildfire safety, evacuation planning, native and fire-safe landscaping, Botanic Garden improvements, and thoughtful discussion around proposed large-scale developments impacting the region.

A highlight of the evening was hearing from Steve Windhager about how native plants can help create more fire-resilient and ecologically healthy landscapes. Thanks as well to Roy Lee, Kristen Sneddon, County Fire Chief Huff, Fire Marshal Fred Tan, Charles Harris, Marc Chytilo, our MCA board, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the evening such a success.

Mission Canyon continues to be a place where neighbors show up, stay informed, and care deeply about protecting this incredible community.

Community matters. Fire safety matters. Good planning matters. Link in bio to read more.

Appreciate the coverage by KEYT NewsChannel 3-12 following the recent Mission Canyon Association Annual Meeting.

As President of the Mission Canyon Association, I was proud to help bring together more than 200 residents, firefighters, elected officials, planners, and community leaders for an important conversation focused on wildfire preparedness, evacuation planning, vegetation management, and the future of Mission Canyon.

Living in the foothills comes with incredible beauty, but also real responsibility. Conversations around evacuation routes, fire resilience, communication systems, defensible space, and thoughtful planning are no longer theoretical for communities like ours.

A big thank you again to Supervisor Roy Lee, Councilmember Kristen Sneddon, County Fire, Fire Marshal Fred Tan, Chief Huff, the Fire Safe Council, Dr. Steve Windhager from the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Marc Chytilo, and all of the residents who showed up engaged, informed, and ready to participate.

Mission Canyon has always been a community that cares deeply about preserving both the safety and character of the canyon, and it was encouraging to see such strong turnout and civic involvement.

Special thanks as well to veteran reporter John Palminteri for covering the meeting and helping bring attention to these important community issues. (News Channel 3-12)

Fire dangers and evacuation concerns are high in Mission Canyon. This location is densely populated behind the Old Mission.

Grateful to have presided over this year’s Mission Canyon Association Annual Meeting as President of the MCA and incredibly encouraged by the turnout of more than 200 residents, neighbors, community leaders, firefighters, environmental advocates, and local officials all coming together for an important evening focused on the future of Mission Canyon and Santa Barbara.

A huge thank you to the Museum of natural history and all of our speakers and participants, including:

• Santa Barbara County Supervisor Roy Lee
• Santa Barbara City Councilmember Kristen Sneddon
• County Fire Chief Huff
• County Fire Marshal Fred Tan
• Charles Harris from the Santa Barbara Fire Safe Council
• Dr. Steve Windhager, Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
• Environmental attorney Marc Chytilo advising SAGE

The evening covered critical issues impacting our community, including wildfire safety, evacuation concerns, native and fire-safe landscaping, upcoming Botanic Garden improvements and Centennial planning, as well as thoughtful discussion surrounding several large-scale proposed developments including the proposed 505 E. Los Olivos project and other high-density developments being considered throughout the region.

One of the highlights of the evening was hearing Dr. Steve Windhager speak about the powerful role native plants can play in creating more fire-resilient landscapes while also supporting biodiversity and the long-term ecological health of our community.

Chief Huff and Fire Marshal Fred Tan also shared important updates regarding wildfire preparedness, evacuation planning, defensible space, and ongoing efforts to improve community resilience throughout Mission Canyon and the foothills.

Mission Canyon has always been a special place where neighbors show up, stay informed, and care deeply about protecting the beauty, character, and safety of the community. Seeing a full room engaged in respectful conversation and civic participation was genuinely inspiring.

A personal thank you as well to our MCA board, volunteers, speakers, and everyone who helped organize the evening and helping elevate the event visually in a really meaningful way.

Community matters. Good planning matters. Fire safety matters. And engaged neighbors matter.

Thank you, Mission Canyon.

Now offering a vision of possibilities at 1445 Schoolhouse Rd., Montecito, with virtual renderings guided by a land use survey.

Set on nearly 2 private acres along one of Montecito’s most sought after lanes, this is a rare opportunity to create a multi-generational legacy estate a place meant to be held, shaped, and passed down. The generous building envelope, existing residence, and guest studio offer a strong foundation for something truly lasting.

Surrounded by enduring value, adjacent to Montecito Union School and neighboring a recently closed $55M estate, this is a location where legacy properties live and endure.

For those looking to create a home with meaning, history, and long-term vision, this is the canvas.

Another Santa Barbara stunner. Sunset dropping in the west, full moon lifting in the east—winter showing off again. If you haven’t caught these super low tides right before sunset, treat yourself. This is why we live here… 🌅🌕

Nice to see Edhat feature my Montecito listing at 1445 Schoolhouse Rd. It’s always a good day when one of Santa Barbara’s legacy estates gets a little well-deserved spotlight.

This property is the real deal,—nearly 2 acres tucked into a private oak canopy, with mountain views, a seasonal creek, and that timeless 1947 architecture. The estate includes a 3BD/2.5BA main residence, a guest studio perched above the garage, and room for a visionary to take it to its full potential.

Opportunities like this don’t show up often in our market—quiet, soulful land with pedigree and possibility.

If you’re looking for a Montecito property that offers true privacy, history, and the canvas to create something extraordinary, I’m happy to walk you through it.
