Did You Know? California Homeowners Age 55+ Can Transfer Their Property Tax Base
Under California's Proposition 19, homeowners who are age 55 or older may transfer the taxable value (property tax base) of their current primary residence to a replacement primary residence anywhere in California. This can help keep property taxes significantly lower when downsizing, relocating, or moving closer to family.
The benefit may be used up to three times, and even applies when purchasing a more expensive home, subject to certain calculations and requirements. The replacement home must generally be purchased within two years of selling the original residence.
Here's an option if you're looking to downsize. The Club at Verano an exclusive gated 55+ community. Please direct message me if you have any questions.
