⚠️ California Landline Customers: Your Voice Is Needed
AT&T has asked the FCC for permission to discontinue copper landline service for approximately 199,000 California customers beginning June 1, 2027. Consumer advocates warn this is only the first step in a broader effort to phase out traditional landline service statewide.
The Utility Reform Network (TURN) is urging Californians to submit comments to the FCC, especially those living in rural, mountain, fire-prone, and earthquake-prone communities where reliable landline service remains critical for health, safety, and emergency communications.
📅 Important Deadlines:
• June 15: FCC Dockets 26-120 and 26-121 (service discontinuance requests)
• June 22: FCC Dockets 26-123 and 26-125 (requests to override California's Carrier of Last Resort protections)
Public participation is essential. The FCC needs to hear directly from customers about how losing landline service would impact their families, communities, and emergency preparedness.
