There are moments as a parent that teach you something about your own life.

Watching them grab the wheel made me think…

Life is a lot like being on the water.

You can’t control the wind.
You can’t control the waves.
You can’t control when the storms show up.

But you CAN control how you respond.

Your attitude.
Your effort.
Your discipline.
Your decisions.
And most importantly… the direction you choose to steer.

Too many times we let the wind and the waves dictate where our life goes. We blame circumstances, our past, other people, or what happened to us.

At some point, you have to GRAB THE WHEEL.

Stop waiting for perfect conditions.

Stop giving things outside of your control the power to determine your direction.

You might not be able to calm the water… but you can decide how you navigate it.

Adjust. Learn. Keep moving.

Because life was never supposed to be free of waves.

It’s about becoming the person who knows how to navigate them.

I’ll never forget where I was on this day in 2001.

I was sitting in Mr. Russamano’s class when the towers were hit and eventually began to fall.

I can still picture that little TV on the roll away cart. The hallways filled with chaos. Kids and teachers screaming, running, trying to understand what we were watching.

And then the realization started setting in…

For so many people around us, there was a chance their mom, dad, brother, sister, friend, or someone they loved was inside those buildings or somewhere nearby.

It’s hard to explain the eerie feeling of being a kid and watching something happen that you knew was bigger than anything you could fully understand at the time.

So many innocent lives were taken that day. So many heroes sacrificed their lives trying to save others. So many families were changed forever.

And more than two decades later, there are still questions people have about that day and why it happened.

But one thing should never change:

We remember the lives lost.
We remember the heroes.
We remember the families.
And we NEVER forget.

9/11 is one of those days where almost everyone who lived through it can tell you exactly where they were when they heard.

THE GUY BORN IN 1986 HAD NO IDEA.

No idea how badly he would screw some things up.

No idea how many times life would humble him.

No idea there would be moments when the future he has today seemed completely impossible.

But he also had no idea…

He’d become a dad.

Build businesses.

Help people buy homes.

Coach thousands of real estate agents.

Stand on stages teaching lessons he had to learn the hard way.

And build a life that younger versions of himself probably wouldn’t believe was his.

That’s the crazy thing about life.

You can be living through a chapter that makes absolutely no sense… and still be writing a story you’re going to be proud of.

So when I saw 1986 picture sitting in my albums, I had to share it.(of course my wife told me to take the picture in front of it)

Not because it’s the year I was born.

Because it reminded me how much can happen between who you were and who you’re becoming.

And I’m nowhere near done and neither are you!

It started with one simple sentence:

“I’m just looking for my brother.”

She wasn’t looking for herself. Her brother wasn’t seriously thinking about moving. On the surface, there wasn’t much of a “lead” there.

But instead of stopping there, I got curious.

I asked a few deeper questions. We talked. We connected.

And eventually I found out what was really behind that first sentence…

It was a dream of hers to have her brother live closer.

She just didn’t really believe it would happen.

She trusted me enough to connect me with him, even though he wasn’t serious about moving at the time.

Fast forward…

For the last two months, we’ve been keeping a pretty big secret from her.

Because her brother didn’t just decide to move closer.

He didn’t just move to the same town.

We found him a house ACROSS THE STREET FROM HIS SISTER.

Today, he finally got to surprise her.

He showed up, brought her over to see his “new house”… and she realized her brother was now going to be her neighbor.

Across. The. Street. ❤️

This picture is the moment.

I run multiple businesses. I coach a ton of real estate agents. I run a real estate business, I speak on stages. I teach conversion, systems and how to build a better business.

But THIS is what I live for.

The moments that remind me that behind every “lead” is a person.

Behind every question is usually a deeper story.

Sometimes we get to play a small part in helping someone live out a dream they didn’t think was possible.

This one will stick with me for a long time.

Cheers to this brother and sister for new traditions,more memories and of course some beach days too!
