I haven't posted in a very long time. I apologize to all of my fans. This is a picture of Seagrove and Seaside taken not too long after Hurricane Opal, based on the brand new boardwalks and sand covering the eroded bluff that the hurricane created. Our home East of the Sun is just about in the center, Gulf front with the dark brown roof. There is no WaterColor and just 2 "bigger" homes in Seagrove. Seaside has that big white tent back on Ruskin Circle. Things have changed so much!!

July 4th 1976 Taken by my mom just to the east of East of the Sun. You see the vacation home called Butterfly Bluff and the gormer vacation home called Chez Merielle. In this photo are Phillip and Joya Spann, Barbara Caruthers, Judy Harris and her daughter Melissa, Peter Horn JR, and my brother Keith Comer (head obscured by umbrella). Three other people I cannot identify. Notice the giant can of Charles Chips in the back of that Bronco.
And all of those aluminum and strapped chairs, so uncomfortable!

This was taken in late fall 1975, after Hurricane Eloise. We are building what would become our epic gazebo down on the beach before anybody gave a darn if you built something right on the sand. That's my mom in the center of the picture, and me next to her. I have a cast on my arm, so feeling confident about the date. Down on the quiet beach is our Scout.

Christmas 1970. Mom is in her fox fur coat, which was so elegant. She actually still has it. My grandmother is in her bright red cape coat and white gloves. This was taken at the dining room window at East the Sun. You can see the famous shark bell out the sliding glass door. Remnants of that privet bush still live on the bluff. The corner cabinet that's just off the right of the picture is still in the dining room on the left. The round dining table is at my house.

My sweet grandparents who we called Babo and Poppy. On their 50th anniversary celebrated on the bluff in front of their house in Seagrove in 1978. They were married in 1928 and moved to New York City in the summer of 1929. That must have been a tough time to live in New York. But eventually they've retired and moved to Seagrove in 1960 and built the beach house that our family and all of our rental guests enjoy to this day. East of the Sun. You can rent the house on our website Www.oldseagrove.com

My grandmother was such a special person. I would spend weeks every summer with her. She took us all kinds of places to explore. Here we are sitting on the landing of the old concrete steps to the beach at East of the Sun. If you look behind us it appears that there is an entire cocktail bar set up, complete with Orange juice, ice chest and I believe I see a bottle of vodka ir whiskey in that basket. My grandmother is wearing her golf "costume" as she would call it because basically any time you had on a coordinated outfit, it was a costume. Not sure how to explain my attire, lol!
