But it did inspire me to go a little deeper and share what the data is showing right now, both statewide in Florida and here locally in Sarasota, as an example of what's happening on the ground.

SARASOTA: Water restrictions are HERE and fines start soon.

We’re 13.7 inches below normal rainfall. That’s not a typo.

Phase III “Extreme” restrictions are in effect now through July 1 across Sarasota County (and most of Southwest Florida).
Here’s what you need to know:

💧 Lawn watering: once a week only

🕐 Only between midnight–4am OR 8pm–midnight

📍 Your watering day = last digit of your address
↳ 0–1: Mon | 2–3: Tue | 4–5: Wed | 6–7: Thu | 8–9: Fri

🌿 Hand-watering shrubs/beds? Allowed daily before 8am or after 6pm.

🚗 Car wash? Only on your assigned day, shutoff nozzle required.

⛲ Decorative fountains: 4 hours/day max.

⚠️ Fines start April 17 no warnings.
1st offense: $100 | 2nd: $250 | 3rd: $500
