That’s right. It is your favorite… Michele’s Historical Trivia Time! 🌴

Take a look at West Venice Avenue, photographed from roughly the same vantage point many decades apart.

See the vertical THEATRE sign in the old photo? That was the original Venice Theatre, which opened in 1927 with seating for about 800 people, 40-foot ceilings and four large chandeliers. Adult admission was just 35 cents!

It later became the Gulf Theatre and even served as a USO gathering place during World War II. The theatre was demolished in 1971, and the nearby Venice-Nokomis Bank building followed in 1975.

Today, Bank of America and Daiquiri Deck sit in this familiar corner of downtown.

Pretty amazing to see how much Venice has changed while still being unmistakably Venice. ❤️
