is (barring a hurricane or lightning) going to happen this Saturday at the SUP & RUN 5k. Not just 300 races that I've run in, but have placed in...usually the top 3, in some cases with the Manasota Track Club, the top 6. Since 2006. "Just" on plants. The accidental mission began after Eat Vegan on $4 a Day came out in 2011 when someone seeing my shirt at a race proclaimed, "You can't run on a vegan diet."

In ways you can't imagine, I've been chided over the years by a tiny but vocal few, but always kept in mind my mom, aunt and both sisters who had breast cancer. For my 3 daughters, this was for them. And anyone else who doubted running on plants for the better part of 44 years could work for health, the planet and the animals. Out of curiosity, we checked meat prices at Publix yesterday and were astounded. As I've long said, I think we'll all be vegan soon whether we want to or not...

I've been lucky to have the support of my publisher, Book Publishing Co., Tofurkey's founder and chairman, Seth Tibbott, Brooke Goldner Tadlock, and many countless others.

My bf and vegan runner, Troy Funk and I will be throwing a celebration party at The Clever Cup Coffee Shop with some yummy vegan desserts this Saturday from 7:30-10 pm. I know...some of you may be running the race like me and prefer the early shift. Gotcha covered with some yummies to celebrate post race at the event too. ;) I really just want to say thanks to all those locally who have supported this wonderful sport and others who have done much to raise awareness.
