You want to stay at the Park Hyatt hotel. Do you book your stay on Expedia or directly on the Park Hyatt web site? My guess is the latter.

This same thinking should apply to booking vacation rental homes. Why? Because properties that have direct booking web sites have:

☐ Lower or no booking fees
☐ Best available nightly rates
☐ More personal communication
☐ A smoother, more personal experience

One simple Google search could save you hundreds of dollars on your next vacation rental.

Here’s a real example from Magnolia House Sarasota for Nov. 10–17:

Airbnb: $4,060
Book direct: $3,692

That’s a $368 difference for the exact same stay.

My tip: If the Airbnb listing includes the property’s name, Google it. Many vacation rentals have their own websites where you’ll often find a better rate, plus a few extra perks when you book direct.

Spend that $368 on an amazing dinner, a spa day, or a fabulous pair of shoes. Just don’t give it away in booking fees if you don’t have to. 😉
