Nestflix Original Ep 7: Home Tweet Home "A Dove Story"

Every love story deserves a place to land. Skipper and Sandy got their happy little Florida Coastal lifestyle nest through our team at Florida Real Estate Places. Buy where others vacation đź’• READ THE PROLOGUE BELOW:

I'll admit it — I got a little emotional filming this one.

When I saw them together. Not one dove waiting on the other. Not one showing up late while the other stress-ate at the feeder. Both of them, side by side, carrying twigs at the same time, settling into the same small spot they'd chosen together. After everything — the meeting, the ghosting, the doubting, the grovelling, the good seeds, the whole beautiful mess — Skipper and Sandy were finally moving in together.

And oh, it was every bit as chaotic as you'd hope. He put a twig somewhere. She moved it. He put it back. She moved it again. There was, I'm fairly certain, a full debate about placement that neither of them won. I laughed at my window, because that's the part nobody warns you about — that "home" isn't the quiet, tidy ending we imagine. It's two stubborn hearts arguing over where the twigs go and being ridiculously happy to be arguing at all.

Thirty years of helping people find their way home has taught me that this is the moment worth waiting for. Not the spark. Not the grand gesture. The morning you stop wondering whether someone's coming back, because they're already there, building the nest right beside you. The address becomes a home the moment you're not in it alone.

Sandy waited out the doubt. Skipper found his way back and then found the nest to match. And now, two doves who met as strangers share one branch, one view, and one very well-argued pile of twigs.

Every love story deserves a place to land. These two finally found theirs.

Welcome home, you two.

Keep watching — because something tells me this nest won't stay a party of two for long.🕊️

The morning I filmed this one, I actually felt a little sorry for him.

Skipper's triumphant return had lasted about as long as these things ever do — which is to say, not long at all. By the next visit, Sandy had remembered she was hurt, and she'd turned that lovely soft shoulder into a wall. And there was Skipper, chest slowly deflating, realizing that looking magnificent only gets a bird so far. The strut wasn't going to save him this time. He was going to have to do the hardest thing of all. He was going to have to apologize.

What I watched next was, honestly, kind of tender. He didn't fly off in a huff the way a proud thing might. He stayed. He edged closer. He nudged the good seeds in her direction — and if you've ever watched a mourning dove offer up the best of the feeder, you know that's no small gesture. He was, in the truest sense of the phrase, prepared to eat crow. No excuses left. Just a quiet, humbled little coo that seemed to say, I know. I'm sorry. Please stay.

Thirty years of watching people find their way to each other, and to the right home, has taught me that this is the moment that actually counts. Not the meeting. Not the spark. The repair. Anyone can be charming on the good days. The real thing is whoever's willing to swallow their pride, come back to the table, and offer you the good seeds when they've got every reason to just fly off instead.

Would Sandy forgive him? I didn't know yet. She had every right not to. But I've learned to recognize the sound of a heart softening, and I think I heard it that morning at my window.

He was cooing her back.

Keep watching.🕊️

Nestflix Original Ep 4: Return of the Coo "A Dove Story"

Like a hero, Skipper returned to her, chest puffed like he hadn't been gone for two episodes, hoping she would not ask where he'd been! READ THE PROLOGUE BELOW:

I nearly cheered out loud when I saw him land.

Two full episodes Sandy had waited, and then one ordinary morning, there he was — Skipper, back at the feeder like he'd never left at all. Chest puffed, posture proud, strolling in with the confidence of a bird who was absolutely hoping no one would ask where he'd been. I laughed at my own window. Because I knew that walk. We all know that walk. It's the walk of someone who has no good explanation and has decided the best defense is simply looking magnificent.

Here's what struck me, though. Sandy had every reason to send him packing. She'd done the waiting, the doubting, the stress-snacking. By all rights, this was the moment she'd hold the line. And part of her wanted to. But the bigger part noticed something she couldn't argue with — he came back. Nobody made him. There was no perfect apology, no airtight excuse. There was just a bird who returned to the same small spot, to the same girl, of his own accord.

Thirty years of watching people search for the right home has taught me this much: the grand gestures get all the attention, but it's the returning that matters. Anyone can show up once and dazzle you. The real thing is the one that keeps coming back to the same place — the person, the porch, the little spot by the window that somehow became yours. Showing up isn't the exciting part of the story. It's the whole story.

Skipper didn't have the words. He had something better. He had the wingbeat back to her.

So watch him puff that chest. Watch her pretend she isn't already forgiving him. And remember — the ones worth keeping are the ones who find their way home.

The coo has returned.

Keep watching.🕊️

Nestflix Original Ep 3: Seeds of Doubt "A Dove Story"

Solo Sandy at the feeder, just snacking her way through her nerves while she waits for Skipper's return! READ THE PROLOGUE BELOW:

Then I'd started leaving my coffee to go cold just to keep watching.

Sandy was back at the feeder, alone again, and this time she wasn't waiting quietly. She was eating. Working her way through those sunflower seeds with the particular focus of someone trying to outrun a feeling. I recognized it immediately, because I've done it myself — the nervous snacking, the telling yourself you're just hungry when really you're just hoping. He said he'd be right back. That was, by my count, about six sunflower seeds ago.

There's a stretch in every love story that nobody frames or hangs on the wall. The waiting stretch. The one where doubt starts quietly moving in — was it real, did I imagine it, is he coming back or was I just something to do on a Tuesday? Sandy sat in that exact feeling, snacking her nerves down to nothing, bargaining with herself between bites. He's just running late. He's definitely just running late.

And here's what I've learned, watching her and watching a thousand people search for the right home over thirty years: the doubt is part of it. The seeds of doubt get planted every single time something matters. It's what you do while you're waiting that tells the real story — whether you spiral off, or whether you hold your spot and trust that the right thing comes back to you.

Sandy held her spot. Nervous, over-snacked, and only half-convinced — but she held it.
So before we find out where Skipper's been, sit in the uncertainty with her a while. Everything good is worth a little doubt on the way to it.
Where is he?

Keep watching.🕊️

Nestflix Original Ep 2: Will She Ever See Him Again?

He was here, and then... just like that he was gone. Was it something she said? Will she ever see him again or will he ghost her? READ THE PROLOGUE BELOW:

After their first dinner, Sandy sat at the feeder alone. She landed in the same spot, settled in, and waited — the way you do when you're sure someone's coming, right up until you're not so sure anymore. I watched her sit there far longer than a bird needs to eat. And I thought, oh no. He didn't show.

That's the thing about the beginning of anything real. There's always a moment where it could go either way. The first date goes beautifully, and then the silence comes — the unanswered message, the empty chair, the friends who are a little too quick to tell you he ghosted you. Sandy felt every bit of it right there on that perch. Was it something she said? Had she come on too strong? Or was Skipper simply another pretty face with no fixed address and no intention of coming back?

I didn't have the answer. Neither did she. All either of us could do was wait and see whether he'd return.

And that, I've come to believe, is the truest part of any love story — and any search for home. The waiting. The wondering. The quiet hope that the thing you found wasn't a fluke. Because the right person, like the right place, is the one that shows up again. And again. Long after the excitement of the first night has worn off.

So before you find out what happened, sit with Sandy a moment. Feel the not-knowing. It makes what comes next so much sweeter.

Will she ever see him again?

Keep watching.🕊️

Nestflix Original Ep 1: Falling In Love! "A Dove Story"

When a night out at dinner turns into love... that's where Skipper and Sandy's "Dove Story" begins! READ THE PROLOGUE BELOW:

Every love story needs a beginning. Ours starts, of all places, at a bird feeder outside my living room window.

It was July when I first noticed them. Two mourning doves — one a little bolder, one a little more guarded — sharing the same small spot day after day. I started filming, and somewhere between the sunrise visits and the quiet evenings, I realized I wasn't just watching birds. I was watching a courtship. The hesitation. The showing off. The near-misses. The coming back.

So I decided to tell their story the way it deserves to be told.

Meet Skipper and Sandy. He swiped right. She swore she was done with the apps. Neither of them planned on falling for a stranger over dinner — but that's usually how it happens, isn't it? What follows is a love story with all the modern chaos we know too well: the first-date nerves, the disappearing acts, the friends convinced he ghosted her, and the slow, stubborn pull of two hearts trying to find their way home.

Because underneath all the fluttering and false starts, that's what this is really about. Finding your person. Finding your place. And discovering that home isn't just where you land — it's who you land beside.

Their story is real. It happened right outside my window. I just had the good fortune to be watching.

So pour yourself something, settle in, and meet the couple who reminded me that the best things in life — love, and a place to call your own — tend to arrive exactly when you've stopped looking.

Welcome to A Dove Love Story. 🕊️

There's a moment every visitor to Sarasota's Gulf Coast remembers — the first time the sky turns impossibly pink over the water, the first walk on sugar-white sand that stays cool underfoot even in July, the first evening spent watching boats drift home as the heat of the day finally lets go. For some people, that moment is the start of a vacation. For our clients, it's often the start of something else entirely: the realization that this could be home.

At Florida Real Estate Places, we don't just sell property along the Gulf Coast — we live the lifestyle we help our clients find. And we believe the best way to understand what life here is really like is to experience it for yourself.
