BEFORE the storm make sure to take photos and video, inside and outside of your home to document the items you have and the state they were in prior to the storm. Insurance companies are really cracking down on claims, so have that documentation.
After a storm go outside and look around at the roof, around the foundations for standing water, inside look at the baseboards, around the windows, and look up at the ceiling. THEN a week later look again inside at the areas because sometimes it is not until moisture dries up that it presents a stain.
Be safe, be prepared.
