🥲
Several weeks ago Pippin began having difficulty chewing. A lump just under his eye had appeared so we suspected he had a bad tooth. The vet found that Pippin did have a badly infected molar which was removed, but the tragedy of the day was the discovery that he had lymphoma. 💔
Although the option of chemo was presented, the three of us who are close to Pippin, weighed out all that chemo would involve. Being unable to explain to Pippin what would be happening, we were all in full agreement that chemo wasn’t anything our happy-go-lucky boy would choose. The chemo would not cure the lymphoma, but was only expected to give Pippin an additional 6-8 months. And while every day with Pippin was precious, it wasn’t about our feelings. It was about Pippin’s quality of life.
Pippin also had kidney disease. He was 13 yrs old so that wasn’t totally unexpected. Personally, I believe that played into his decline. Pippin’s sweet soul has now passed on to Heaven. It’s sad and empty around here without his always smiling face greeting us at the gate to see what treats we had brought for him. He loved to be petted and talked to. He was so attentive, watching our every move. Pippin brought us incredible joy and it was such a privilege to care for him. We love him dearly and he will always be remembered. What an amazing unexpected blessing he was in our lives!🙏🏻
We still have an outstanding vet bill for Pippin's tooth extraction, biopsies, radiographs, and medications that exceeds $400. Donations in Pippin’s memory will be used toward his bill. Thank you for any gifts made in our sweet boy’s memory. 💔 We hope you will always remember him, too.
