Every year, our West Pier Place community comes together for a tradition that means so much more than simply placing flags. 🇺🇸
Our annual 9/11 Flag Ceremony is our way of taking a moment to remember, reflect, and honor the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, as well as the countless families, first responders, and communities forever impacted by that day.
Each flag placed represents remembrance, respect, and the promise that those lives will never be forgotten.
What makes this tradition especially meaningful is being able to share it with our residents and members of our local community year after year. In the middle of our everyday lives, we take this time together to slow down, stand beside one another, and remember a day that changed our country forever.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joins us, lends a hand, shares a story, or simply takes a moment to reflect as they pass the flags. A special thank you to Lake Superior State Athletics - both Men's and Women's basketball teams for helping be a part of our annual flag ceremony.
May we always remember the lives lost, honor the courage shown, and carry forward the unity and compassion that brought so many people together in the days that followed.
