✨Have you filed for Homestead Exemption?✨

Some of you may ask, what is Homestead Exemption and how do I apply?

📍Homestead exemption is for residents who own and occupy a home and the land it sits on as their permanent place of residence. Without the exemption, as property taxes continue to rise annually it will potentially increase your mortgage payments. The exemption locks in your taxes for the current year so you are not effected if/when taxes increase. Applicants must apply with their county’s Board of Assessors prior to April 1st to be considered for the current tax year. This application can be completed online or in person. The exemption has an automatic renewal yearly so once you file you’re done, unless you decide to purchase a new home (permanent place of residence).

What do I need to file for the exemption? (Chatham County, GA)

📍A valid Georgia Drivers license or GA ID
📍Vehicle Registration with address of the home listed
📍A prior year utility bill or Voters Registration Card

Is there an out of pocket cost to file?

📍No, there’s no out of pocket cost to file for the exemption.

As Ohio natives, the two were over the extremely cold and snowy winters and so were their babies! Now, they no longer have to worry because it’s December and they had no complaints about the 70 degree weather! 😁☀️
