Fort Stewart officials confirmed shots were fired near Engineer Road on Fort Stewart at around 2:09 p.m., Monday afternoon. According to officials, the suspect was apprehended quickly.

We reached out to Fort Stewart for the identity of the suspect; they confirmed the suspect was a soldier stationed at Fort Stewart who surrendered peacefully.

Fort Stewart said they issued a lockdown for the installation at 2:20 p.m. and lifted the lockdown at 2:32 p.m. after the threat was cleared.
