One of my favorite pastimes is just driving around Savannah looking for inspiration. Lately I’ve been looking for fencing and landscaping ideas, and the gorgeous estates at Burnside Island and Vernonburg didn’t disappoint!

I love an open concept space, but I’m hearing from a lot of people lately that actually prefer their homes to have more walls, especially in the kitchen. What do you think? I love being able to cook and still chat with my family or watch TV, but if you don’t have a good hood vent (I don’t) then your whole house smells like whatever you just made. What do you prefer? Open concept, closed off spaces, or something in between?

Be creative with your wall art! This hat wall is perfect for this beach house bedroom, and it ended up being way cheaper than a full wall of framed art. I scooped up almost all of these hats at Target on clearance at the end of summer. If you want to make a beachy hat wall yourself, now’s the time to buy the hats!

I had the opportunity to show the coolest house today! It wasn’t just right for these buyers, but it’s a lovely home in Mayfair that’s ready for its new family, and I’d love to show it to you!

Let’s talk about one of my favorite topics, cabinets! These cabinets are my favorite, inset. Inset cabinet doors are set into the frame and sit flush with the face of the cabinet when closed. These are the hardest cabinets to make because the measurements have to be very precise. That means they are also some of the most expensive, but they are worth it for their timelessness.

We live in hectic times and our homes are our retreats now more than ever. Want your bedroom to feel as serene as this one? Check out these tips ⬇️
1. Use a calming color palette. You don’t have to use only neutrals, but stick to muted soft tones. Vibrant colors, especially red, have been shown to increase heart rate and blood pressure.
2. Make your bed look inviting. Layering your bedding gives your bed a cozy feel. Don’t be afraid to add an extra pillow or throw! I love to use a fitted sheet, flat sheet, quilt, duvet, and a throw.
3. De-clutter. This one requires a bit of work, but it’ll be worth it! Keep your room clean and clutter free. You don’t want to come home after a long day of work and see more things you need to get done. Doing little things everyday like making your bed and putting your clothes in a hamper, will keep your room looking neat and inviting.

Who’d like to wake up to this view? 🙋🏼‍♀️. In the distance, you can see the spire from the Independent Presbyterian Church building on Ogelthrope Avenue. That church building was completed and dedicated in 1819 in the presence of eventual President John C. Calhoun and current President James Monroe. This church is iconic in Savannah, and definitely worth a peek inside if you’re nearby!
