47th Annual Candle Lantern Tour, Fort McAllister

One of my favorite Bryan County traditions is back — the 47th Annual Candle Lantern Tour at Fort McAllister State Historic Park on Saturday, October 3rd!

This is such a cool way to experience local history after dark. Guides walk you through the fort by candlelight while you watch dramatic camp scenes, hear musket and cannon firings, see a blacksmith at work, and get a glimpse into Civil War-era medical care. It's genuinely one of those "only in Richmond Hill" experiences.

It's almost time for one of my favorite Bryan County traditions — the 17th Annual Kids' Crabbing Tournament! 🦀

Saturday, September 26 at Fort McAllister Marina in Richmond Hill. Registration runs 9:30–10:30am with weigh-in at 4pm ($10/child, up to $50/boat), and the day includes music, hermit crab races, snow cones, and a crab boil — plus it all benefits Family Promise of Bryan County.

Anyone looking for acreage near Savannah with real water access — I've got one you should see.

1.17 acres on a tidal creek off the Little Ogeechee River, huge oak trees, no HOA, and zoned R-A (so chickens, gardens, outbuildings are all fair game). About 20 minutes to downtown Savannah but feels like you're way out.

The catch: the house needs work. Now priced at $364,000 to reflect that. If you've got the vision (or the contractor) to finish it, this is a lot of land and water for the money.
